About the Hispanic People Flag

This flag is ideal for people with Hispanic heritage or those with love for all things Hispanic.

The flag is best known to represent the community and depicts a white banner against a golden Inti sun, and three purple crosses pattée.

The white background represents peace and purity, the Inti sun symbolises the rise of lands, and the crosses indicate Christopher Columbus’ three ships — the Niña, the Pinta and the Santa María.

The purple colour of the crosses represents the Spanish language derivative of the Kingdom of León’s flag, which historically featured a lion of the same colour.

History of Hispanic People Flag

Deeply rooted in history, the flag was initially designed by Ángel Camblor, an Uruguayan Army captain. He created the flag as part of a contest in 1932 and won. The flag was raised later that year, on October 12, 1932, at the Montevideo Independence Square.

Whether you are from Spain, a Spanish speaking country, a Hispanic country, have Hispanic relatives or even if you have an appreciation for the flag itself, we have what you need.
